Close to 25,000 Experiencing Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Weather Systems

Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events swept through the state, producing wind gusts topping 109km/h.

Large Hailstones and Extensive Damage

Residents observed giant hailstones as large as seven centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities announced that different parts across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to manage the extensive power failures.

Southern State's Weather Woes

Meanwhile, around one thousand energy customers in the southern state also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.

Rescue organizations responded to 598 requests for assistance across the region, primarily for building damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

At the height on yesterday, in excess of 28k electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.

Weather Forecast

Moist weather were expected to linger along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across different parts of both states.

Health Warning

Medical authorities warned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
